Broncos right in the thick of tough schedule

The Broncos are in good shape.

How can I say that after coming off a disappointing loss in Atlanta? How can I still have faith when Peyton Manning threw those 3 first-quarter interceptions? How can I be confident with the Texans’ #1-ranked defense coming to town this week? Well, you kinda’ answered your own questions.

I’ll explain. Right now, the Broncos are smack in the middle of the toughest part of their schedule. They soundly defeated the Steelers in Week 1 and came pretty darn close to overcoming that disastrous 1st quarter in Atlanta. The game was in doubt right up until the very end, but the Broncos fell short. Hey, it happens.

This Sunday, we have the Houston Texans, followed by a visit from the foundering Raiders, who always have a way of playing their best football against the Broncos. After that, the Broncos go on the road to play the New England Patriots and the current AFC West-leading San Diego Chargers.

And then, finally, the bye week.

How the Broncos come out of these next few games will determine the season. A win this weekend and another that SHOULD be a win against the Raiders and we’re 3-1. If Denver can get to the bye week at 4-2 or even 3-3, the season is looking great. Either of those outcomes make a 11-5 season very possible, as Manning will have knocked the rust off and made it through most of the adjustments. After the bye week, the offense should become the finely-tuned machine we expect it to be.

And it all starts on Sunday with the Texans.

P.S. Go Falcons on Sunday!
